Tamas Matyek, the owner and founder of Cabinet Maker NYC, is committed to creating sustainable elegance through conscientious woodworking practices. For him, sustainability isn’t just a trend—it’s a fundamental principle that guides every project.

Every custom piece of furniture—whether kitchen cabinets, bookcases, or architectural woodwork—is crafted from Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood. Tamas prioritizes the use of water-based paints and eco-friendly finishes, and whenever possible, incorporates reclaimed and recycled wood into his creations.

Bio
Tamas’ journey into woodworking began at the age of 14 in Hungary, where he honed his skills under the guidance of master cabinet makers. By 18, he was already working in woodshops, learning both traditional and modern fabrication techniques alongside seasoned professionals.
Tamas’ pursuit of excellence in woodworking continued with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from the University of West Hungary – Sopron. Since then, he has worked in the construction and fine woodworking industries, continually refining his craft and embracing new techniques.
